Duna Rossa

The seaside procession of the image of the Madonna dell'Angelo is one of the most loved religious rites of the people of Caorle, and the most followed by the tourists who arrive even from abroad for the event. It takes place every five years, with the next edition scheduled for 2010, on the second Sunday of September as usual.
The rite aims to commemorate an event dating to 1800, when the Blessed Virgin received the pleas of population that was worried with the alienation of the lagoon territories. The procession, that lasts the entire afternoon, first takes place in the towns "calli", and then moves seaward up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Angelo .
